Yakumo, floating clouds painted on the ceiling of Izumo Shrine, is used as a motif. The sea of clouds is described brightly with colored urushi while the outlying has been drawn in silver to accentuate the design whereby the multi layers of colored urushi are brought to the surface. Numerous processes are necessary in the delicate and time-consuming art of Ginsen-Yakumo. With time, urushi becomes increasingly more transparent, thus the pattern starts slightly to emerge, changing into a deeper and richer pattern within its glossy finish. This gives it a mysterious feel.
